Woody Campfire

Larrikin fireside singer.

Spinner of tall tales.

Australia’s 2nd Best Busker at the National Busking Championships.

Woody Campfire, dressed in red flannel, tan jeans, red cowboy boots and an akubra, playing kazoo in the forest.

Woody Campfire, eh?

Woody Campfire stirs up good times and chaos wherever he lands, armed with his dinkum tenor, trusty instrument and overfilled swag of songs.

His original songs are cheeky snapshots of the characters he's met while roaming rural Australia. His songwriting style doffs its hat to Aussie legends like Slim Dusty and John Williamson, but with his own twisted humour and distinct point of view.

Woody's knack for bringing wit and wildness to crowds comes from two decades of performing around the world in tons of projects, most often as late night cabaret troublemaker Tomás Ford and as a comedy DJ in Crap Music Rave Party.

It's no persona - Woody is where Tomás feels most at home. From a beginning as a playful spot of busking, he's gone on to build a fresh take on classic Aussie storytelling. There's mischief in every verse, but also deep affection for the places and people who shape his songs.

Woody is on a bit of a roll, having just won the title of Australia’s 2nd Best Busker at the Australian National Busking Championships. An acoustic record in December 2025 will lead into a more fully arranged LP in 2026. You can see him on tour at high profile festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Fringe World in Perth and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

For Woody, his current success is the payoff of a long period of hard graft. He’s spent the last few years building his new act the hard way, as a folk vagabond touring street corners, comedy gigs, pub gigs and festival spots around Australia. It might not look like it (and he likes it that way) but he knows what he’s doing.

So pull up a camp chair, grab a pint, and settle in around Woody’s bonfire. Who knows where you’ll end up by last drinks?

Get The New Acoustic Album

Having snagged second place at the Australian National Busking Championships in Cooma NSW, anarchic campfire singer Woody Campfire turned some of the prize money into capturing the fun of his street shows. He laid down "Australia’s 2nd Best Busker" the next weekend at Sydney's Kiln Studios.

It's acoustic album that feels like a Sunday night strum around a real bush fire. Woody’s larrikin country-folk voice meets his distinctive pluck-and-thrash approach to the ukulele, on a set that swings between ridiculous covers and his original story-songs from his travels as a queer bloke working as an outback troubador.

Some tracks will crack you up. Others will pin a soft knot in your chest with their honest prettiness. This record is a portrait of Woody at the moment everything clicked into place - it's his favourite busking tunes for playing around campfire pits, in sticky pubs or on the dusty streets. He’s still that campfire host with a cheeky grin and a knack for storytelling, but on this record you hear the heart in his hands as much as the humour in his voice.

This record won't be available in full on streaming services. You can buy it here and download it in any digital format you like - and, if you're really keen, you can buy a CD. If you don't have a player, Woody can go and get you a lil' discman too. He's helpful like that.

Once you've got your copy, Woody reccomends to pop it on during a road trip, while you sit on a verandah looking at the stars or as something to keep you company on a bushwalk. He's sure you'll figure it out though - Woody's just glad of you listenin'.

Videos

Woody serves up videos on his TikTok and Instagram on the regular, which (along with his online livestream shows) are earning him a solid online following. Watching his clips can be the best way to get a sense of what kinda performer he is.

Woody’s original songs come from a deeply personal place, telling stories from his life and folks he’s met on the road.

Sure, there’s moments of chaotic fun in his shows, but there’s always heartfelt songs like this, too.

His raucous nights around his fake campfire on Peel St are building their own legend at the Tamworth Country Music Festival each year.

Woody’s original music sets are full of great yarns, warm humour and his gentle hyperactivity.

On nights where the crowd is keen to go there, Woody busts out his woolier stories.
