Tamworth Country Music Festival 2026
I’ll be adventuring around the east coast from Boxing Day, starting with the Woodford Folk Festival, then a bit of a break for some shows in NSW & the ACT before hopping a train up to my third Tamworth Country Music Festival.
I love being part of this festival. My nighttime campfire shows were a huge hit last year, so I’m bringing them back, plus I’ll be performing daily lunchtime busking sets at Pacific Bun Mee on the main drag of Peel Street. I know from experience that their bun mee are INSANELY GOOD. So at least I’ll be well fed.
This year, I’ll be starting my nighttime slots an hour earlier at 8pm, in the little nook outside Target. It’s just ‘round the corner from the Fanzone stage and the festival’s main intersection. If they’re anything like last year, they’ll be something truly special. I gather everyone around my collection of Bunnings camping chairs and a toasty warm fake open fire.
You can see how wild an adventure I had last year on my (no-longer-current but still good fun) showreel:
You can also catch me at showcases for the Australian Bush Balladeers Association (1:40pm at the Balladeers Homestead on Friday the 23rd) and as part of the Courthouse Hotel’s legendary Busker’s Roundup on Sunday Jan 18 (starts at 5, I’m on ‘round 7pm).
Lovely to be included in both - bush balladeering is my home, after all, and the Courthouse’s roundup is one of Tamworth’s greatest gigs. The festival attracts some incredible talent to play on the street, and you get to see everyone pull out what they reckon is their best work. It’s just about the greatest variety show in the history of Australian country music.
My full Tamworth schedule can be viewed in their online program. But, put simply, the main ones are:
WOODY CAMPFIRE’S
TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2025
LUNCH-TIME: Nghe nhạc của Woody và ăn bánh mì!
HIGH NOON ‘TIL 2PM
PACIFIC BUN MEE - 417 PEEL STREET (Google Maps link)
NIGHT-TIME: Woody Campfire’s Fake Campfire!
8PM ‘TIL I CONK OUT
IN THE NOOK OUT THE FRONT OF TARGET (Google Maps link)
Both of these spots are in the vicinity of the the main Fitzroy St intersection (where the Fanzone and big water sprayers are).
By the way, if you’re going to the festival: don’t forget to carry coins as often as you can! Nothing makes a busker feel appreciated like the clink of change. Your support makes a big difference.
