April “Waltzing Matilda”Tour

I’m off on the road this April, hitting New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT.

Here’s a Tiktok I made for my account there about it:

Australia's 2nd best busker announces a tour like it's Coachella. Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney and whatever towns I end up in in Victoria... batten down the hatches. 🤠🔥 #woodycampfire #livemusic #folkcountry #canberra #melbourne

I made the decision to keep my acoustic record off of streaming services, but it’s nice to have something up there as a calling card for folks. So, from April 16, you’ll be able to stream my version of Waltzing Matilda from whichever version of them that you might use. It’s a real nice version with a finger-picked, storytellingy kinda vibe. Add it to your playlists and such.

First stop on the trip will be two days of busking in Sydney on April 9 & 10. It’s always good fun to harangue folks in the CBD there. Keep an eye out for me around the Hyde Park fountain in particular, that tends to be my favourite spot there.

Then it’s off to Canberra…

Because touring in a car felt like taking a gamble on super-pricey fuel, I’ll be catching a bus to Canberra to join the Cabaret Cabal festival at my favourite Canberra haunt, Smith’s Alternative. I’ll be doing a special 5pm cozy afternoon campfire set on Sunday April 12. You can book your tickets directly from their website.

Then I hit the bus again to Melbourne for a couple of weeks in tropical Victoria and a very special show indeeeeed…

I’m stoked to have been invited over to play at this by the Matsumura Blues Festival, who take over an actual courthouse in the gently fancy suburb of Kew each month for their “Jailhouse Concert Series.”

The Hootie Tooties and I are sharing billing for the date. They’re a fun and enjoyably oddball* bluegrass quartet outta Melbourne, who tripped over my campfires at the Woodford Folk Festival and were keen to do something together. It’s a killer match, we’re gonna have a great time.

The gig will be going down at the Kew Court House in on Saturday April 18.

If you’re a Melbournian, I don’t reckon you oughta miss this. Tickets are moving fast now from Eventbrite, so book quick (click here for the link).

I’ll be hopping trains and buses to get out and play for the good people of Victoria through the rest of the time I’m in town. If you’re in regional Victoria, drop me a message and I’ll see if I can make it to your town on my way about.

Keep an eye on my Tiktok and Instagram stories, as I post where I’m setting up to play each day and I’d love to see ya.

*: This is a compliment. I, too, am “enjoyably oddball.”
